Tao Tan Pai (“Taoist Elixir Method”) Basic 31 Meditations

May 22, 2020 - May 25, 2020

Master Terry Dunn teaches the Basic 31 Meditations of Taoist Elixir Method Qigong in this 8-hour intensive Qigong workshop. Taoist Elixir Method (“Tao Tan Pai”) is a complete ancient Taoist system of moving meditation and breath control that imparts good health, vitality and personal empowerment by coordinating eyes, mind, movement, and breath according to an alchemic formula that opens the heart, clears and focuses the mind and profoundly strengthens the body. The health benefits of Tao Tan Pai practice are improved circulation, respiration, digestion, metabolism, posture, balance, flexibility, neuro-muscular coordination, sound and restful sleep, boosted immunity, and effective management of stress.

The Tao Tan Pai 31 Meditations is the basic health and self-healing Qigong training of the Tao Tan Pai Kung Fu stem, an authentic Taoist monastic system of hygienics that was created during China’s Tang Dynasty and is attributed to Lu Deng Bin, the leader of the Eight Taoist Immortals (saints) and was preserved for 23 generations mostly at the Ancient Temple of the Yellow Dragon (Huanglong Guguan) near Mt. Luohu in China’s Guangdong province before Taoist priest Share Lew brought the art to America in 1968. Tao Tan Pai Qigong traditionally has been the secret engine that develops the natural body mechanics and tangible superabundance of energy that empowers the Tao Tan Pai Kung Fu. Thus it is the perfect complement, supporting warm-up or recovery regimen for any athletic activity in addition to martial arts.

During this 8-hour workshop, you learn the 15 standing and 16 seated meditations known as the Tao Tan Pai Basic 31 Meditations. You will also learn what is known as the Short Form Power Yoga, consisting of five of the 31 meditations, which is an essential distillation of the 31 meditation system, handily designed for daily practice of approximately 30-40 minutes.

Note: Practitioners of all authentic Indian and Tibetan systems of yoga and meditation can use Tao Tan Pai Basic 31 to supplement, ground, and elevate their respective practices.

Testimonials

Because of the great interest in Qigong in the west, it is important to have bona fide teachings by bona fide teachers. Too often students wind up learning a little bit of this form and a little bit of another, while never learning any complete system. This series is a good example of a serious and gifted instructor who offers a complete system of healing qigong to the serious student.

Solala Towler, Editor, The Empty Vessel, Journal of Contemporary Taoism (1996)

This is a great practice for body, mind and spirit.  It is holy;  it is healthful;  it is scientific.  Yet, there are no words. Just do the movements, memorize the movements, do the breathing exercises before. Do not argue, do not think. Just do, and you will see results. How did the ancient Chinese discover this?

You have been in my thoughts a great deal, as one of the teachers who has, in my post-academic phase, shown me the very physical, kinetic component of bliss or enlightenment. The early Buddhist scriptures speak of “touching Nirvana with your body.”  I now understand what this means due ot the effects of your instruction in Chi Kung.  I am mainly working with the exercises in your Volume 5 video, which were included in Minnesota.  Such simplicity and profound subtlety!
